Day 1

Paro

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure as you embark on a thrilling flight to Paro. Brace yourself for breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas, including the awe-inspiring Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga if you’re flying from Kathmandu. As you descend into Paro, catch a glimpse of the awe-inspiring Mount Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. Upon landing, our friendly guide will be there to welcome you and whisk you off to a delightful local restaurant for a delectable lunch. Afterward, get ready to discover Paro’s must-see attractions, including the illustrious Rinpung Dzong, an ancient fortress that houses both government offices and monks, the enchanting traditional wooden bridge, and the historic Kichu Monastery. As night falls, take a leisurely stroll through the enchanting Paro town. Your home for the night? A cosy hotel nestled in the heart of Paro.

Day 2

Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure! After a delicious breakfast, we’ll set out on an exhilarating acclimatization hike to Bhutan’s legendary Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery, perched at an impressive 3100m. A short 20-minute drive will take us to the starting point of our hike, where we’ll journey through enchanting pine, fir, and hemlock forests. Along the way, we’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Paro valley below. Upon reaching the look-out point, be sure to capture the perfect photo and take in the awe-inspiring scenery before descending to a charming small waterfall and arriving at the monastery. After exploring the monastery, we’ll savor a delightful lunch at the cafeteria, and then hike back to the base where our awaiting car will transport us back. Experience the fulfilment of having ventured to this iconic site as we make our way back to the hotel. And as if that isn’t enough, we’ll also have the chance to explore the lively Paro town in the evening. You won’t want to miss this thrilling overnight stay at a hotel in Paro!

Day 3

Paro to Sharna Zampa

Your main trek starts here! Embark on your adventure with a scenic 12km drive north of Paro to explore the fascinating ruins of Drugyel Dzong (2580m). As you begin your trek downhill along the picturesque Pachhu river, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of rice terraces, apple orchards, and traditional Bhutanese farmhouses. Traverse through the enchanting blue pine forest until you reach the army post at Gunitsawa (2810m), the final outpost before the Tibetan border. After crossing the Pachhu River, prepare for a gradual ascent to Sharna Zampa (2870m), where you can set up camp and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the surrounding meadows.

Day 4

Sharna Zampa to Soi Thangkha

Embark on a picturesque journey following the enchanting Pachhu River as it weaves its way through lush pine, majestic oak, and towering spruce forests while crossing several babbling streams. After around 2 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at the popular rest spot Shingkharap, nestled at an elevation of 3110m. Here, amid the serene surroundings, you can savour a steaming hot lunch before crossing a quaint bridge and continuing your adventure through the vibrant rhododendron forests. As the trail meanders, you’ll encounter invigorating climbs and exhilarating descents, eventually leading you to a breathtaking meadow at Soi Thangkha, perched at an elevation of 3750m, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

Day 5

Soi Thangkha to Jangothang Base Camp

Today’s adventure will lead you to new heights, as you journey above the lush greenery to an elevation of 3700m. Departing from camp, you’ll pass by an army camp and trace the path alongside a glistening river, all while being treated to awe-inspiring vistas of the towering peaks that surround you. The route may get a bit muddy at times, but that won’t stop you from encountering yak herder settlements and a mesmerizing mani wall along the way. After a satisfying hot lunch at a yak herder’s camp, the trek continues through Soe and Takethang, finally culminating at the picturesque Jangothang campsite (4040m). Here, you’ll be rewarded with unparalleled views of Mount Jumolhari and Jichu Drake, creating an experience that truly takes your breath away.

Day 6

Jangothang to Lingshi

Embark on an awe-inspiring journey along a meandering stream, cross a picturesque bridge, and begin your ascent to a ridge offering spellbinding views of Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tsherim Gang. Traverse through the valley, and conquer the ascent to the magnificent Ngye La pass, standing at 4830m. Descend gradually, revelling in the breathtaking panoramas of the towering peaks and the historical Lingshi Dzong. If time allows, make a detour to explore this ancient fortress. Finally, settle in for the night at the enchanting campsite of Lingshi, nestled at 4010m.

Day 7

Jangothang Acclimatization and Exploration

Get ready for an unforgettable day of adventure! Spend today getting to know the breathtaking landscape with a 4-hour hike north of your camp. As you climb an open slope, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Mount Jichu Drakye (6989m) and Mount Jumolhari. Keep your eyes peeled for blue sheep, griffon vultures, golden eagles, and even the rare blue poppy. If you’re up for something different, you can take a 2-hour trip to the twin Tshophu Lakes. And if you just want to unwind, you can kick back at the camp, surrounded by the awe-inspiring scenery. Jangothang base is a flat grassy land with an old ruined fortress nestled below the towering peaks.

Day 8

Lingshi to Shodu

As you leave the Jumolhari trek route and make your way to a ridge above camp, the real adventure begins. Turning south, you’ll ascend the stunning Mo Chhu valley, following a trail that steadily climbs, crosses rivers, and eventually leads you to the exhilarating Yeli La pass at 4942m. From this vantage point, soak in the awe-inspiring views of Jumolhari, Gangchen Ta, Tsherim Gang, and Masang Gang. The descent takes you to a charming shelter and a picturesque meadow at Shodu (4100m) adorned with a beautiful Chorten, adding a touch of serenity to your journey.

Day 9

Shodu to Barshong

Head back to the tree line, tracing the path of the Thimphu River as it winds through picturesque rhododendrons, juniper, and other alpine forests. Take in stunning vistas of cliffs and cascading waterfalls along the way. Later, savour a delightful riverside lunch before beginning a gradual ascent to the captivating ruins of Barshong Dzong. You’ll spend the night camping at Barshong (3600m), surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.

Day 10

Barshong to Dodena to Thimphu

Your main trek ends here. After breakfast, embark on an invigorating trek through the enchanting rhododendron, birch, and conifer forests. As you descend steeply, you’ll be greeted by the soothing sight of the Thimphu Chhu river. Follow the river’s meandering path, conquering ridges and descending to side streams, until you arrive at the picturesque Dodena (2600m). From there, the adventure continues as you transfer to Thimphu by car, soaking in the stunning scenery along the way. If time permits, we will be visiting the Buddha statue and the CSI market in Thimphu.

Day 11

Thimphu to Punakha

Get ready for an amazing day ahead! After a scrumptious breakfast, we’ll kick things off with a scenic drive to Punakha, with a stop at the stunning Dochu La pass (3100m) and its 108 chortens. Keep your eyes peeled for breathtaking Himalayan views on clear days. Then, as we make our way through lush forests to Metsina, get ready for an invigorating hike to the Chimi Lhakhang Temple. This temple is a tribute to Drukpa Kuenley, also known as the Divine Madman. Next, we’ll head to Punakha and prepare to be wowed by the magnificent Punakha Dzong. But that’s not all – we’ll also be giving back by visiting and making donations to the monks at the Po Chhu Dumra Monastic School. You can interact with the monks and even join in some fun games with them. If time allows, we’ll cap off the day with a visit to the Punakha suspension bridge, the longest of its kind in Bhutan. Finally, it’s time to unwind and settle in for the night at a delightful hotel in Punakha.

Day 12

Punakha to Paro

On your way back to Paro, you’ll pass through the breathtaking Dochu La pass and Thimphu. Take some time to visit the Druk Wangyel Monastery at Dochu La, famous for its stunning paintings. Once in Thimphu, make sure to check out the vibrant Centenary Farmers Market if it’s the weekend. Afterwards, head back to Paro and immerse yourself in the charm of Paro town. You can spend the evening exploring its quaint streets and cozy corners. Finally, settle in for the night at a comfortable hotel in Paro.
